I am a Murderer
by Darwin Bedford, Spiritual Reality
Therapist
Twenty-four thousand people
die of hunger every day and I am killing them. An equal number are maimed for life
from not having enough food to eat--and I am responsible for their suffering. I make
mothers must decide which child is to be fed and which child is to go hungry--and
possibly die.
My actions allow this to occur. While I try my hardest to make myself comfortable, fellow
members of my own species are suffering and failing to survive. I know that something is
wrong here. I know that this is not my vision of the world that I want to live in.
I am responsible for this mass suffering and death by not acting appropriately to prevent
it. If I were "in action" enough I could prevent death and suffering from
poverty, but instead I choose to enjoy my time and let others suffer. How can I live with
myself? How can I tolerate my selfishness?

I'm OK, you're OK.
I'm dysfunctional, you're dysfunctional.
I'm a murderer, you're a murderer.
